Sista Monica Parker - Living in the Danger Zone]
Living in the Danger Zone is the newest release from the R&B songstress Sista Monica Parker. The world traveled artist is in fine form on this album. From joyful love tunes to the tales of heartbreak and sorrow, Living in the Danger Zone is full of passion and inspiration.
Living in the Danger Zone starts off with the fun and playful "Hug Me Like You Love Me.” This upbeat feel good song sounds like it has the makings of becoming a fan favorite. It is the type of song that people like to sing and dance along to. "Tears” brings the heartbroken blues vibe into the album. Things really pick up with the next few songs. "No Shame In My Game” is full of attitude and carries plenty of spirit with it, to say the least. Also, it has an important message for neglectful lovers out there. The momentum is kept going with "Fierce Force of Nature.”
The good tunes keep coming with "Worn Out Your Welcome.” It is a humorous song about having a bad partner. Well, I found it funny anyway. Despite the exclamation point, "Unstoppable!” is a low key and moody production with atmosphere that belongs in a jazz lounge. With a few more rough relationship themed songs in "The Forecast Calls For Pain,” "Sending You On Your Way,” and "Once Loved Twice Bitten,” the album ends on a uplifting note with the inspirational "Just Keep Living” and "Glory Hallelujah.”
Sista Monica Parker’s Living in the Danger Zone is a success on the whole. Fans of the genre will eat it up, but it probably will not convert many over. There are a few songs that do not stand out that much, but the ones that do will have you repeatedly coming back to them and that is where this album really glows... ~ Brian McKinnon, muzikreviews.com
